We organize public events, lectures and workshops. Meet us and learn more about what we do.
On May 26th, Professor Aswath Damodaran from the New York University Stern School of Business will come to give us a session on his views of Corporate Finance and Valuation.
Damodaran’s Valuation with Jan Hajek, CFA
Jan Hajek, who has been a manager of the Top Stocks mutual fund (Erste Asset Management) since its inception in 2006 and is considered by many to be the Czech Warren Buffett, is coming to give us a lecture during our regular Valuation class. In this session, he will explain his valuation philosophy and will describe specific techniques that he uses.
Deconstructing Oil&Gas Financial Statements
We have watched a Wall Street Prep Webinar focused on understanding the structure of Financial Statements of companies operating in the Oil & Gas industry from the perspective of Investment Banking and Equity Research.
“This webinar is designed to help participants understand the structure and layout of the O&G financial reports. We start by looking at different O&G accounting methods and their impact on financial statements. We then touch on the differences between 1P, 2P, and 3P reserves before spending the rest of the time analyzing and interpreting O&G financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures, and on performing O&G ratio analysis.” Wall Street Prep
We run an intensive financial modeling programme based on the Wall Street Prep’s Premium Financial Modeling Package that is widely used at investment banks and financial institutions globally. The Package is provided at a student discount price by one of our sponsors – PKApplied, and you need to purchase it in order to participate effectively. It is a step-by-step program that uses a real case study approach and is designed to mimic the experience of a financial analyst. After completing the course, you will obtain a Wall Street Prep’s Financial Modeling Certificate in addition to their membership at the PWSClub.
We will discuss several issues related to the AMADEUS database [Bureau van Dijk] covering about 21 million firms from both Western and Eastern Europe. In particular, we will provide information about the structure and coverage of the database. Depending on audience interest we will discuss problems associated with data storage and their use. Finally, several examples of different applied financial research projects will be introduced and presented.
On the occasion of our first public event, we will welcome Jiri Tresl, who will focus on building intuition for valuation of stocks: “Our first case will be the upcoming Ferrari IPO which we will enhance with the back of the envelope calculation. Then we will move on to Twitter and discuss its place in the current technology environment,” says Jiri.
